wiewWHERE INFORMATION EQUALS WINS
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 10, 2026 · Applies to the Wiew mobile apps and thewiew.com
Wiew exists to give households honest information about property. We hold ourselves to the same standard with your information. This policy explains what Costace LLC (a Massachusetts limited liability company, company number 001952451, "Wiew", "we") collects through the Wiew mobile apps, thewiew.com and related services (the "Services"), why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and the rights and choices you have. It is part of the agreement described in our Terms of Use.
The short version: We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, we do not sell leads, and we do not pass your details to data brokers. Advertising in Wiew is based on the property context you are already looking at, never on a personal profile of you, and advertisers never receive your identity. Your financial inputs stay private to your account: we never share them, and a professional sees a figure derived from them only if you yourself choose to send it, for example by sharing a borrowing-power card. Wiew offers no way to search for a person by name to find property, and owner names from public records are never displayed.
Part A · What we collect
1. Scope
- This policy covers the Wiew mobile apps, thewiew.com (including the Learn library and the waitlist), and support channels. It covers people with and without accounts.
- It does not cover third parties: the app stores that bill paid features, sign-in providers you choose to use, mapping and imagery providers, or websites we link to. Their own policies govern them (see our Terms of Use, Section 30).
- Products operated for organisations (for example programmes for municipalities) may carry their own supplementary notices presented at the point of use.
2. Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address and sign-in credentials when you create an account; business name, trade, service area and profile content for Business accounts.
- Financial inputs: figures you enter to use planning features, such as budget, income, deposit and borrowing-power inputs. These stay private to your account and are used only to compute the outputs you ask for. We never share them. The only way a figure derived from them reaches anyone else is you choosing to send it (for example sharing a borrowing-power card or a report), and then only to the recipients you pick.
- Content you create: messages, requests and job posts, reviews, listings, shared reports and cards, and (for professionals) profiles, offers, articles and campaigns. What you deliberately send or publish is visible to its recipients or audience.
- Verification evidence: documents or details you submit to verify property ownership or a professional licence (Section 6).
- Support correspondence: what you send us when you contact support@thewiew.com, including any attachments.
- Providing information is optional, but features that depend on it will not work without it.
3. Information collected automatically
- Usage information: screens viewed, searches and map areas browsed, properties viewed and saved, features used, and interactions with content, used to run and improve the product.
- Device and log information: device type and model, operating system and version, app version, language, IP address, crash and performance diagnostics.
- Location: approximate location inferred from your IP address or the areas you browse, used to show relevant places. Precise device location is collected only if you grant the permission, used to centre the map and show nearby results, and you can withdraw it in device settings at any time.
- We do not log keystrokes, we do not record your screen, and the apps contain no third-party advertising trackers.
4. Information from other sources
- Public records and licensed sources: information about properties (Section 5) and, for verification, official registry records about licences and ownership (Section 6).
- Professionals' business information: we may collect business contact details of professionals (name of the business, trade, public contact details) from official registries and other public sources, to build the directory and to invite businesses to claim a profile. We honour opt-outs: write to support@thewiew.com and we will not contact that business again.
- App stores: confirmation of purchases and subscription status for paid features. Card and bank details are collected and stored by the store's billing system, not by Wiew.
- Sign-in providers: if you register through a third-party sign-in, we receive your name and email address from that provider.
5. Property information from public records
Wiew displays information about properties: values and history, assessments, zoning, buildable area, mapped constraints and modelled figures, derived from public records and licensed third-party sources and our own analysis of them. This is information about land and buildings. It existed before any account did, and deleting an account does not delete the public record.
Owner privacy commitments. Wiew offers no way to search for a person by name to find property. Owner names appearing in public records are never displayed in the Services. Where address-linked information could relate to a household, we treat the commitments in this policy as applying to it. Wiew never uses property information to build advertising profiles of people, and never permits its use to decide any person's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or tenancy.
6. Verification data
- Ownership verification: when you claim a property, we check the claim against property records and may ask you for supporting evidence.A failed or unresolved check never links the property and is routed to support.
- Licence verification: when a professional's licence is verified, we check the licence details you provide against the official registry that issued it.
- What others see is only the badge: that the check passed, and its date. Evidence documents are never displayed to anyone, and ownership badges never reveal names.
- Verification data is used only to perform the check, defend its result, and prevent fraud. Evidence documents are deleted once the check is resolved, except where we must keep them to defend the result or meet a legal obligation.
Part B · How it is used and shared
7. How we use information
- To provide the product: property analysis and scores you request, saved places, the marketplace, listings, verification, and communication between you and the people you choose to contact.
- To operate paid Business features, billed through the app store.
- To keep the Services safe: verifying accounts, investigating violations of the Terms of Use, preventing fraud and abuse, and protecting users.
- To debug, measure and improve the Services, preferring aggregated or de-identified data wherever possible. We do not attempt to re-identify de-identified data.
- To communicate with you: service messages always; marketing only with your consent (Section 12).
- To comply with law and respond to lawful requests (Section 10).
- Where Wiew uses modelling and automation, the AI Policy applies: modelled figures are labelled as modelled, models make no decisions about you, and we do not hand your personal information to third parties to train their models.
- Messages you exchange through the Services are stored and may be reviewed to provide support, keep the Services safe, investigate violations and comply with law, to the extent applicable law permits.
8. The marketplace: what others receive
- Professionals only ever see what you deliberately send them: a job post you publish to a category, a message, a shared report or card. A request includes the details you wrote and the name on your account; it never includes your financial inputs automatically. If you choose to send an output built from them (a borrowing-power card, a shared report), the recipient sees the figures that output shows; their reuse is restricted by Section 18 of the Terms of Use.
- Households see what professionals publish: profiles, offers, articles, campaigns, badges and reviews.
- Professionals' use of what they receive is restricted by Section 18 of the Terms of Use: only to respond to your request and perform the engagement, no resale, no marketing lists, no secondary use.
- Honest caveat: a copy you have sent someone cannot be unsent. Deleting your account removes your data from Wiew, but not copies already delivered to people you chose to share with; their obligations under the Terms continue.
- Reviews you publish appear with the name on your account and remain subject to removal under the Terms.
9. Sponsored content and advertisers
- Sponsored content in Wiew is shown based on the place and category you are already looking at, never on a behavioural profile of you, and it is always labelled.
- Advertisers (professionals running campaigns) receive aggregate reporting only, such as estimated share of local activity. They never receive your identity, your contact details, or lists of who saw their content.
- We do not use your name or photo to promote sponsored content, we do not track you across other companies' sites or apps, and we do not allow third-party advertising networks inside the Services.
10. When we disclose information
- Service providers: we disclose personal information to companies that perform services for us, in categories such as hosting and storage, communications delivery (email, push and text), crash reporting and diagnostics, support tooling, and billing through the app stores. Each operates under a written contract that limits it to processing on our documented instructions for those purposes only, prohibits it from selling or sharing your information or using it for its own purposes, and requires confidentiality, security safeguards, and deletion or return of the information when the service ends. We maintain a current internal register of these providers, mirrored in the app stores' data-safety disclosures, and we update the categories here whenever it changes.
- Recipients you choose: the marketplace disclosures in Section 8 happen at your direction.
- Legal: we disclose information if we believe in good faith that law requires it (subpoena, court order, legal process) or that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety, rights or property of users, the public or Wiew. Where law allows, we tell you before disclosing your information.
- Business transfers: if Costace LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction; this policy continues to apply to it until a successor publishes a revised policy under Section 19.
- With your consent: anything else, only if you agree first.
11. What we never do
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined in state privacy laws. We do not sell leads. We do not disclose personal information to data brokers. We do not run third-party advertising or tracking inside the Services. We do not use your information to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you, and we do not profile people for such decisions. No revenue line of ours depends on doing any of these things, which is why we can state them without qualification.
Part C · Your controls
12. Your choices
- Access and correction: view and edit your account information in the app. You can ask us for a copy of your data, in a portable format, at any time (Section 21 explains the mechanics).
- Marketing: sent only with consent, never a condition of using the Services; withdraw in settings or via the unsubscribe mechanism in any message. Service messages (receipts, security, changes to terms) continue while you hold an account.
- Marketing texts: opt-in only. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help; message and data rates may apply. When you opt in or out, we keep a proof-of-consent record (your number, the time, and where you opted in), and we share such records only to prove consent was given. Delivery runs through a messaging provider under contract (Section 10); your number is never shared for anyone else's marketing.
- Push notifications: controlled in the app and in device settings.
- Location: precise location is permission-based and can be withdrawn in device settings; approximate, IP-derived location continues, because the product needs to know roughly where you are looking.
- Professionals: businesses listed from public sources can opt out of invitations (Section 4).
13. Cookies and the website
- thewiew.com sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no third-party tracking cookies. The one thing it stores is your light-or-dark theme choice, in your browser, sent nowhere. Details and a clear-it button are on the Cookie Preferences page.
- Our website honours the Global Privacy Control signal. Because we do not sell or share personal information, the signal changes nothing, but we treat it as a valid opt-out wherever law gives it effect. We do not respond to older Do Not Track signals, which lack a settled standard.
- Infrastructure (content delivery, web fonts) receives the technical request data any web server receives, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver the files.
14. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, then delete it or de-identify it. What that means in practice:
- Account data and content: kept while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account deletion (Section 15).
- Verification evidence: deleted once the check is resolved, except where needed to defend the result or meet a legal obligation.
- Billing records for paid features: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support correspondence: kept as long as needed to resolve the matter and improve support
- Backups: deleted data cycles out of encrypted backups within 45 days; backups are isolated from production use, and if one is restored, data pending deletion is deleted again.
- Legal holds: information subject to a legal obligation, investigation, dispute or fraud review is kept for as long as that purpose requires, and no longer.
- Aggregated and de-identified data, and public-record information about properties, are not personal information and may be retained.
15. Deletion
- Delete your account in the app (Account, then Close account) or via thewiew.com/delete-account.html, which also describes an email route.
- Deletion covers your account and profile, saved and linked properties, financial inputs, messages, job posts, and (for professionals) your card, profile, campaigns and articles. It is processed within 30 days.
- What survives: aggregated or de-identified data; records we must keep by law; copies you already sent to others (Section 8); public-record information about properties; and reviews others wrote about a business, which belong to their authors.
Part D · Protections and practicalities
16. Security
- We protect data in transit and at rest with industry-standard measures, limit internal access to people who need it, and use contractual safeguards with every provider. No method is perfectly secure, and we do not promise otherwise.
- If a breach affects you, we will notify you and the authorities as applicable law requires, without unreasonable delay.
- Keep your credentials unique and private; we will never ask you for your password. Report security concerns to support@thewiew.com; good-faith vulnerability reports are welcome (see the Safety page).
17. Children
Wiew is for adults (18+). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, let alone under 13. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
18. Where information is processed
Wiew operates from the United States, and information is processed and stored there by us and our service providers. If you use the Services from elsewhere, you understand your information is processed in the United States, where privacy law may differ from your jurisdiction's.
19. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the effective date above, and for material changes we notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The promises in Sections 5 and 11 are the floor of this policy; if we ever intended to weaken one, we would say so plainly and in advance, not bury it in a revision.

Part E · State disclosures
21. US state privacy disclosures
This section supplements the policy for residents of states with consumer privacy laws (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Virginia, and other states with similar laws). It uses those laws' definitions.
Your rights
- Know and access: confirm whether we process your personal information and obtain a copy, in a portable and readily usable format.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information (Section 15; statutory exceptions apply).
- Opt out of sale, sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, and targeted advertising: we do not do these, so there is nothing to opt out of, but we honour the Global Privacy Control signal and will treat any such request as standing confirmation.
- Limit sensitive personal information: we use sensitive information (credentials, verification evidence, precise location if you enable it) only to provide the Services and for purposes state law permits without a limit right, and we never sell it or use it for targeted advertising.
- Profiling: we do not profile you in furtherance of decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, so no opt-out is needed.
- Specific third parties: residents of states granting it (for example Delaware, Minnesota and Oregon) may request the list of specific third parties that received their personal information. Ours is short: the service providers in Section 10 and the recipients you chose yourself.
- No discrimination: exercising rights never changes your service or pricing.
Making a request
- Email support@thewiew.com with subject "Privacy request", or use the in-app controls for access, correction and deletion.
- Verification: we verify requests against your account, normally by confirming control of the account email. If we cannot verify you, we will say so rather than guess.
- Authorised agents: accepted with your signed authorisation or power of attorney; we may still confirm with you directly.
- Timing and appeals: we respond within the time your state’s law sets (45 days where not specified, extendable where permitted). If we refuse a request, we explain why, and you may appeal by replying with subject "Privacy appeal"; unresolved appeals can be raised with your state attorney general.
